He the shareholder, complains that he can buy his goods ‘just as cheap and on as good terms elsewhere, so what is the use of the company to him?’ This FALLACIOUS ARGUMENT is often set up by those who do not understand the benefits of co-operative trading. Under the latter system, eveiy penny _ spent on stores, services, etc., is an augmentation of the capital force in the co-operative bond, ft is the foundation stone of the goodwill built up year by year. Such a goodwill grows and grows until it becomes an absolute assurance and guarantee for the safety of every member in that particular ' ‘organisation. ’ Tims', goodwill, then, is tremendously valuable, and everything should be done by the members to secure it, and the only "’ay of so accomplishing valuable asset is to go buying or trading with the organisation. Already has your company made so splendid an asset of goodwill that ‘Cambist’ is prepared to put a price upon that goodwill and would be glad of the opportunity to buy it for cash. This is the reason that on every hand there is a movement to crush co-operative institutions and it is another good reason why cooperators should resist the insidious effort made to ruin them. It is a financial crime if members of these concerns give up the fight for existence and truckle to exploiting enemies. Co-operators, get to it- and support your own concerns at all costs. Co-operative union, plus sufficient capital, is absolutely unconquerable, and what is more it is particularly the farmers’ only friend. Fie on you Mr. Shareholder, to write me such foolish 'lines. Use your own company to the fullest extent. Another year or two will prove the folly of your arguments. Stick to your ‘organisation.’
