GARAGE BURNT.
FIRE AT AVONDALE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Nov. 15. A fire at Avondale last night completely destroyed a large motor-bus garage, owned by E. T. Pooley, together with two passenger motor busses, two heavy motor lorries, two motor bus tops, and a house adjoining, owned by Poole.v, and occupied by L. Tierney. The General Omnibus Company, which occupied the front portion of the building, sustained losses amounting to £2OOO. One motor bus was saved. One' valued at.£7oo and another valued at£ooo were destroyed. There were no insurances on the former. The latter was insured. A motor lorry owned by Leighton, contractor, and a motor lorry owned by Pooley were destroyed. A six-cylinder car owned by Constable Douglas, valued at £550 and insured for £250, and a two-seater owned by the General Omnibus Company were destroyed. The two motor bus tops burned were owned by M. McCarthy, tax proprietor, and Ben Mason. Tierney and his wife and children lost everything. The house was not in-, sured. The General Omnibus Company liad been in existence only three, months.
