LEVIN— FOXTON LINE. (BY TELEGRAPH- —PRESS ASSOCIATION. . LEVIN, Nov. 14. A meeting of the Levin-Foxton-Maiiton Railway League resolved to. actively pursue the objective of the deviation of the Main Trunk system via Foxton, which, it is claimed, ,will reduce the distance by 16 miles and tbedtime by nearly an hour and running costs by £28,800 annuallv on the Wellington—Auckland and Wellington —New Plymouth journeys, and render unnecessary the, proposal local deviation at Palmerston. The League has been promoted by the Chamber of Commerce and local bodies in the" district, and will press for the modern' survey promised by the Prime Minister, also lor reports by railway experts. The case for deviation, which is estimated to cost £490,000 for 35 miles, will also be laid before the British Commissioners as one of national importance.
