Most of the work was done on No. 1 grass track, hut with a large number of horses due to race at the Christchurch Hunt meeting later in teh day, there were not many left to go through strenuous tasks, and proceedings were dull. Winning Hit and Rivalry occupied 53 2-osec over half a mile. Red W r ink, The Polymnian and Lucinette started off quietly from the five furlongs mark, but they were doing their best- in the straight, finishing up in 1.6 1-5. Bonita sprinted half a mile nicely in 50 l-ssec. Palestrina covered a mile in 1.47 3-5. Income went twice round, the first at half pace and the second a little faster. Lochella was given a similar task, finishing with a rattle down the straight. Tifi was given a working gallop over a mile. Barn Owl ran the last five of six furlongs in 1.2 1-5, Rich Prize accompanying her over the last half-mile. Omahu strode out freely over a circuit on the sand.
