KAKARAMEA.
* (From Our Own Correspondent). DANCE. A jolly dance was held at the Kakaramea hall on Monday evenimr last in aid of the Pa tea Convent. ~ The Misses Hui'ley supplier the music and gave entire satisfaction to the hundred odd dancers, amongst whom were representatives from all the surrounding districts. Mr W. Kcnfi.sk made a very efiicient M.C. The conduct and general tone of the dance left nothing to be desired, and it is the general opinion that for organisation and good management this affair comes second to none held during the season. The initiators are indeed to be congratulated. DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION. The organiser of the above, Mr C. E. Levien, held a meeting in the hall on Thursday evening in order to nut before prospective mem hers _ the constitution and objects of the Dairy Fanners’ Union. The weather was most inauspicious, and consequently the meeting, which bid fair to he well attended, must have proved very disappointing to the organiser. Efforts were made to fo;rm a branch of the D.F.U. at Kakaramea, hut it was felt that with so unrepresentative a gathering the forming of a branch would have small hope of success, and was therefore postponed until a more favourable opportunity. Mi: Tong, on behalf of those present, thanked Mr Levien for his very interesting address.
