RETENTION FAVOURED. (IST TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) MARTON, Aug. 4. A meeting of 80 representative farmers decided by a 75 per cent, majority in favour of the retention of the land tax as against income tax. Messrs Dalrymple and Marshall, two prominent farmers, spoke strongly in favour of the income tax, pointing out that farmers, unlike others, had to pay the tax whether they made anything or not.
