MAORI’S SUDDEN DEATH.
AN INQUEST TO BE HELD. A man named Neil Wilson was admitted. to the Wanganui Hospital at about nine o’clock on Saturday morn.ing, and succumbed about two hours later. The deceased, who was a Maori, .was aged about sixty years. It was rumoured that, the deceased ejected from a dance at Kauangaroa, and as a result sustained injuries to his head. It Avas also declared that since the alleged occurrence about three weeks ago, the native had been neglected, although he was seriously ill. A farmer who resided ip the vicinity of the deceased’s home, noticing the Maori’s condition, summoned Dr .Adams, and as a result lie was removed to the local institution. A post mortem examination was held, and it is believed that the cause of death was . diagnosed as meningitis.—• Chronicle.
