In moving a vote of thanks to the committee of the- Stratford Demonstration Farm Society, Mr Marfell made special mention of the interest taken and the good work done by Mr J. B. Richards. He said members generally did not know the time Mr Richards put in at the farm, and how he was alwavs conversant with all that was being done. He personally could always see , the improvements being made at the tann, and this was due in large measure to Mr Richards’ consistent work. . A Wanganui message reports the death of Mr Ellery Gilbert, aged 76, and Mr Thos. Pettigrew, aged 61. Both of them were very well known in New Plymouth. He married a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Manning. In his youth Mr. Reid took 'a keen interest in all branches of sport and was a member of the Heretaunga Mounted Rifles. He was a keen bowler and a member of the Petone Bowlin o- Club and the Commercial Travellers - ’ Club Wellington. He leaves his wife and a grown-up daughter.
