PRISONERS SENTENCED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRES? ASSOCIATION.I WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. At the Supreme Court sentences were imposed as follows: Roy Leslie Jorgen Neilsen Avas fined £2O, in default three months’ imprisonment, for carnal knowledge of a girl under 16. The girl introduced herself to accused and acted as temptress. Cyril Wagstaff for indecent assault was ordered probation for three years and to pay £ls 15s costs. Both prisoners were married men with children. In neither case did the judge think that any inference of damage to the girl’s moral fibre could be drawn. A period of reformative detention Avould be the best thing for them. Frank Ansell, for forgery of telegrams Avhereby a Avoman was depriYed of her savings, Ava’s sentenced to hard labour for a year and a half. Frederick Courtenay, for theft from the person, Avas sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on two charges, the sentences to be concurrent. Joseph William Moore, for theft, Avas .sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment. Leonard H. Perry, for theft of t\vo motor cars, was ordered reformative detention not exceeding two years.
