CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL. Ihe Otakeho Hall was taxed to its utmost on tne occasion of '-tlie childien’s fancy dress bad, wlucu. had been organised by an energetic committee of ladies in aid ot the-' hall funds, which have benefited considerably as a result of their efforts. The hall was prettiLy decorated with native greenery, sirring flowers and coloured paper streamers. Excellent music was supplied gratis bv Mrs Mudford. and Mr and Airs Woods assisted by a number of extras. Promptly at 8 o’clock the children paraded lor the grand match, the many and varied costumes making a very pretty display. The thanks of the committee are due to Dr. and Airs Wright, of Alanaia, for acting as judges of the costumes, their task being no easy one, but in all cases their decision met with everyone’s hearty approval. At the conclusion ot the children’s part of the programme, Mif Eaves, in an appropriate ‘speech, thanked the ladies lor the very thorough manner in which they had arranged the ball, and trained the children in the various dances. Air Burke, chairman of the Hall Committee, also spoke, and thanked the ladies and every - onei present for the generous wav in which they had all assisted to make the evening such.a success, both socially and financially. The supper, as usual, was all that could be desired, after which the adults continued a most enjoyable dance until well into the morning, the duties of AI.C. being in the capable hands of Air R. H.
