UNION ACCOUNTS.

VEXATIOUS REQUIREMENTS. f BY TELEGRAPH —pwvso •sqocM'TTnv ' DUNEDIN, July 31. At a meeting of representatives of a trades union to discuss a circular from the Minister for Labour dealing with internal administration of the union, a resolution was carried that section 3 of the. Act already provides for the keeping of union accounts in an 1 efficient and, simple manner, a.nd suggestions from the Ministep can only be regarded as irritating,- vexatious and uncalled for. The union cannot recognise the Government’s right to interfere in the internal business of unions, and deplore the action of the Minister in endeavouring to introduce by legislation anything that will interfere with the liberty of any individual union or association.

Regarding a circular from the Commissioner of Taxes, asking for the names and addresses of members of the union, it was decided to. enter an emphatic protest against the commissioner’s endeavour,to have the unions do work that rightly belongs to his department.
