A Launch Capsized

(Fer Pre.; A:;Koualioii). Llenheim, March 11. The oil launch Tuariki, timber laden, was capsi/ed by a high wind, and sank in Pelorous Hound on Tuesday. The engineer, Wilkinson, was trapped in the engine-room, and was released by Captain Johnson at the last moment by bursting open a porthole and some of the planking. Two passengers, Misses Venimore and Price, and the crew, kept afloat on a plank for half an hour until they were rescued by a boat from the Paradise. Bay Dairy Factory, where the accident was witnessed. The launch sank in 15 fathoms, tfhe will probably be refloated. She was valued at £SOO, and was the property of Mr J. Wilkinson, of Kaiapoi. She was uninsured.
