German Rejoicings

There arc rejoicings in Germany at the Liberal victories (says Truth). German}' imagines that the little Englander who prolonged the Boer war, and whose hyphenated seditiousitess lost the Empire millions of money and hundreds of lives, will be an easier man to make use of than even the weak-backed and vacillating Government which allowed the Kaiser to entrap it into the Venezuelan embroglio. Camp-bell-Barinerman's victory is hailed with great rejoicings in Germany, because Germany imagines that Campbell-Baimerman is a weak man, and a not over patriotic one, and that it can make still greater use of the British Government. It is an ominous thing when Germany rejoices at a British election. Probably Germany believes that Camp-bell-Baunerman's Government will weaken the Anglo-French Alliance, and forward, her Teutonic designs. Will her expectations be realised ? Will Campbell-Bannennau's Government begin coquetting with the great enemy of England and allow the Empire to be deluded into false security by its most bitter and ready antagonist. We shall see whether Pro-Boor also means ProGerman, and whether the policy which has kept Germany isolated and harmless is to be abandoned or pursued. What Germany hopes is evident from her rejoicings. Surely Cambell-Bannerman will not be allowed to betray England again. But not much can be hoped from the man wL neglected our defences when last \. until there was no ammunition for our guns, and who took the part of her enemies against the Empire.
