Major Atkinson is having a very rough time of it with his constituents, his meetings being much disturbed by opposition. A provincial newspaper, giving an account of a violent hurricane, says that “ it shattered mountains, tore up oaks by the roots, and carried them through the air to a great distance; dismantled curches, laid villages waste, and overturned a haystack!” Printers sometimes make funny mistakes. A l.- dy teacher once ordered an advetisement to be insert .at in a newspaper, which spoke lie “the reputation for teaching which she bears.” The printer omitted the word “ which,” so the clause was made to announce to the world her “ reputation for teaching she-bears!”
