GERMAN ENTRY TO EUROPEAN ASSEMBLY
PARIS, November 9 The Standing Committee set up at Strasbourg by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe voted unanimously to-day for the admission of Germany to the Assembly. It also expressed a favourable opinion on the admission of the Saar, but it is understood that a number ol committee members abstained from voting. The Committee of Ministers had asked the advise of the Standing Committee before making its linal decision on both issues. The Standing. Committee is also drafting its objections to the recommendations of the Committee of Ministers to abolish the Assembly’s Economic Committee and other permanent committees. The Standing Committee is opposing the stand of the Foreign Ministers who want a tight rein on the -Assembly’s freedom to discuss anything they consider likely to promote Europe's political and economic unification.
