SYDNEY, November 8. A former Prime Minister and the Australian delegate to the Versailles Peace Conference, Mr W. M. Hughes, said at a Liberal Party rally that the United Nations “is the most utterly pretentious, garrulous and futile body in existence”. He added that Japan was still . a great potential menace to Australia, and might eventually appeal to the United Nations for liberty to spread southwards. However, Russia was the great threat to world peace, which was the same as saying that Communism was the main threat to peace.
