AUCKLAND GAMES
P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 8 The clothes and outfits for the members of the New Zealand team competing in the Empire Games at Auckland in February will cost £2,225. A report from the Games Administration Committee to this effect was adonted by the executive of the New eZaland Olympic and Empire Games to-night. The total of 180 is divided thus:— Athletics, 40 men and 15 women; swimming, 26 men, 15 women; fencing, 15 men, 4 women; boxing, eight men; cycling, 15 men; weight lifting, eight men; rowing, 18 men; wrestling, eight; bowling, eight. The team will enter ramp at Ardmore by January 25. The camp would open on January 21, said the chairman, Mr A. D. Bayfield. Overseas teams would enter the camp that day, a fortnight before the games started. (Rec. 9.40) LONDON. Nov. 8 The sporting “Chronicle” says:—James Halliday, holder of three British weight-lifting championships has been given leave to compete in New Zealand with the English weightlifting team in the Empire Games next February.
