MOTOR MAGNATES’ ROW OVER PATENTS GOING TO COURT

(Rec. 6.55). LONDON, October 11. The English tractor king, Mr Harry Ferguson, told Mr Henry Ford, the American motor millionaire, to-day, that he would not have any dickering or horse-trading in their dispute ovei’ eighty millions sterling (at revalued rates) which Mr Ferguson is claiming. This amount is claimed from Mr Ford-for an alleged infringement of patents. Mr Ford revealed that he has filed a counter-claim. He did not specify the grounds or the amount of the claim. He said that they would fight it out in the American courts.

Mr Ferguson’s publicity agents have issued a counter-blast to Mr Ford’s announcement, saying*: “I have made it abundantly clear that I am not interested in any ridiculous offers or any dickering or horse-trading in this matter”.

A final effort by the two tycoons to settle the case out of court failed, after a meeting in London five days ago.
