Austria’s Coalition To Stay in Power
(Rec. 6.40). VIENNA, October 11. The Austrian Chancellor, Dr Leopold Figi, will remain as the head of the new Austrian Government, said a spokesman of the Right Wing People’s Party. This is reported by the Associated Press.
The statement was made after a meeting of the People’s Party leaders, following the general election, which gave the ePcple’s Party a clear majority of ten seats over its Socialist coalition partner. The present Austrian Cabinet will resign to-day. The Federal President, Dr Karl Renner, will then ask Chancellor Figi, as the leader of the strongest single Party, to form a Government. It is almost certain that the present coalition partnership will be continued.
