ROBBERY RACKET ON N.S.W. RAILWAYS

SYDNEY, October 10

The New South Wales Railways Department has reshuffled a number of administrative positions, following the arrest of an engineer and several other men on charges of having stolen building materials from railway stores. Six men have, been arrested and will be charged before a special court.

Detectives say that the stolen goods, which are valued at over £30,000, include "everything from a needle to an anchor,” and that some consignments had been recovered 50 miles away.

Allegations are 4 that with the connivance of railway officials goods were taken by blackmarket operators from Lithgow Station.
