NEW HARBOUR WORKSHOP
Advice has been received from the member for the district, Hon. C. F. Skinner, that the plans for the new harbour workshops at Westport have been completed by the district architect of the Ministery of Works. Mr. Skinner said the new building would be capable of providing for advanced marine repairs and the handling of all types of engineering work from other departments. A delay in the completion of the plans was due to the shortage of cement and steel, but the position had now improved with these commodities. The site for the new workshops is near the'wharves in the vacent section in lower Palmerston Street.
