RIFLE SHOOTING
ROSS CLUB Ross Miniature Rifle Club concluded their season with a very successful shoot and presentation of trophies in the Totara Hall. The senior vicepresident, Mr W. Leslie, who presided in place of Mr C. Hamilton, the latter being indisposed, congratulated the club on its very successful season and gave a brief resume of the activities. The club had viisted Rvnanga, and The club had visited Runanga, and for, club shoots. Ross club had been the winners on both occasions. Postal shoots had been held with West Melton, Willowbridge and Balfour clubs, respectively. Ross had lost the first two matches and had won the third. The club had held four club competitions in A, B, and C grades. The winners were as follows. —First competition, (A) W. Leggott; (B) J. Jones; (C) H. Jones. Second competition. —C. Hamilton A; Miss J. Gray B; Joe Foster C. Third competition.— A. Philpott A; S. Scott B; W. LesiLe C. Fourth competition.—T. Manera A; W. Leslie B; W. Mitchell C. The trophy winners weie as follows. —Brocklehurst Cup (aggregate off rifle): C. Hamilton; Tisdale Cup (handicap) C. Hamilton; Mikonui Cup (under 21), A. Adamson; G. S. Rae Cup (juniors), E. J. Adams; President’s Trophy (first year shooters), W. Wilson; Father Kelly’s, trophy (inner bulls), C. Hamilton. Ladies’ trophies; off rifle, Mrs Bailey; handicap, Mrs Bailey; Bailey Cup (inner bulls), Miss J. Allan; Hotty Buttons, Mrs Bailey and T. Manera. Novelty shoot Miss J. Gray.
