The six-and-a-half ton mobile crane, which toppled off the end of Queen’s Wharf, Auckland, and sank in about 30 feet of water on Friday afternoon, was salvaged by the floating crane Mahua on Saturday morning. A Harbour Board diver made several descents and finally placed a steel sling round the heavy axle in the jib. The Mahua lifted the crane easily from the harbour bottom and the”' took it to the Hobson Wharf wo. ships, where it will be overhauled. The crane did not appear to have suffered great damage in the fall Efforts will be made to salvage the steel plate weighing about two tons, which got out of balance and cause the mishap.
