A scheme for a wide decentralisation of industry was announced by the Federal Prime Miniser (Mr Chifley. The scheme will operate with the help of the newly formed Immigration Planning Council, working in conjunction with the Government Secondary Industries Commission in encouraging the establishment if industries away from the main cities and the coastline. Mr Chifley said that several industries had already been moved to South Australia, and others had been set up in country districts.
