(Rec. 10.10). CANBERRA, Aug. 19. The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. J. B. Chifley, has announced that the Cabinet has decided to set up an Industrial Atomic Energy Policy Committee, to advise on the development of industrial power generators, using atomic energy. Professor M. L. Oliphant, he said, had consented to be chairman of the committee. Mr Chifley said: “Although it will be many years before the practical use of atomic energy will become a reality, the Government is convinced of the need for Australia to do what it can to develop this important alternative of industrial power”.
