TOTE TICKET FORGERY CHARGE

AUCKLAND, May 2 Because two of its members had worked for a party in the case, the jury was discharged by Mr Justice Finlay in the Supreme Court to-day. Heath Ernest Inwood, aged 36, a carpenter, was charged with attempted theft, involving a totalisator ticket, at the F’ranklin races. Just after the case started the Judge told the jury foreman that he had been informed that a jury member had worked for the totalisator company. He asked the jury to retire and ascertain if this were true. On returning the foreman told His Honour that two jurymen had worked for the company. . The Judge discharged the jury and said a fresh jury would be empanelled to-morrow.
