WOOL PRICES AT NAPIER SHOW CONSIDERABLE DECLINE

Considerably lower price levels ruled for the final Hawke’s Bay wool sale of the present season, according to the official report, which stated:— “The final sale of the 1948-49 season was held at Napier to-day before a fully representative bench of buyers, when competition was well spread but at considerably lower price levels, compared with our previous sale. The prices were very firm on recent auctions. “Half-bred wools and lambs, in particular, were most affected by the drop in prices. There was practically a total clearance of all the catalogues to the trade”. The following is the official range of prices:— Southdown, average to good 24id to 29d, fine Down cross, average to 23d to 27d, inferior 20d to 2'2d. Fine good 2Sd to 32d, extra line Corridale and half-bred, good 3SId to 39id, fine Corridale average 32d to 34Jd, extra fine x-bred good 29d to 32d, average 23d to 27d, inferior 20d to 2'2d. Fine x-bred, good to super 24?>d to 251 d, good 23d to 241 d, average 21d to 2'2id, inferior 16d to 18d. Medium x-bred, good to super 21d to 23d, good 19Jd ito 20id, average 18d to 19d, inferior - 13 Id to 15d. Strong x-bred super 24d to 25Sd. Lambs: Half-bred and. down, good to super 30d to 32d, average 26d to 28d, medium x-bred, good to super 24d to 29d, average 181 d to 23d, inferior and seedy 12Jd to 15d. Pieces x-bred, good 14d to 151 d. average 12’d to 131 d, inferior and seedy lOd to 12d. Locks x-bred sid to 121 d.
