The Prime Minister (Mr Louis St Laurent) set September 1 as the pro-forma date for the first session of th e new Parliament. A stack of unfinished Government business was left behind when Parliament was dissolved. The lack of passage through Parliament, however, has not blocked the operation of tariff lowering agreements, which have been in effect since 1937.
