Recreation Areas In Cobden

“As far as I am concerned, I would sav that it is not to be touched,” said the Minister of Works, rne Hon.. R. Semple, when a deputation from the Cobden Bowling Club, comprising Messrs C. L. Cutler and R. J. Ware asked that some provision should be made for the renewal of the Cobden bowling grounds’ 21 year lease which expires in six years, as they wished to install a septic tank. Mi* Semple said the Housing Department was considering taking over the rifle range area. They had to have a recreation area. There was no other property available, said Mr Ware, and the club had failed to find another site for the women’s club. Provision should have to be made for the women bowlers senarately. “I think it is preferable to let the women have their own ground?” said the Minister. “They are much happier on their own.” He would discuss the matter with his colleagues, but assured the deputation that he was against taking away any recreation area.
