Fire Brigade Celebrations
A public meeting at Westport to consider ways and means of assisting the Westport Fire Brigade to celebrate, its 80th anniversary, was fairly well attended. It was proposed to hold the celebrations from’June 16 to June 19, starting with a children’s plain and fancy dress ball, and finishing with a concert in St. James’ Theatre. Other events will be a demonstration, in which West Coast brigades will take part on the Saturday, a ball on the Friday night, a procession on the Saturday afternoon, and. a re-union dinner on the Saturday night.
