IMPORTANT GRANTS FOR BULLER BY THE GOVERNMENT
(Our Own Correspondent). WESTFORT, February 22. The Government is providing considerable assistance -in important developments in the Buller district. This help was to-day detailed by the Hon. C. r’. Skinner, who is the Member for the district. At the meeting of the Buller County Council the Minister gave this information. He gave details concerning the following:— Grants by the Government for road works in the Buller district, especially for improving the SeddonvilleKaramea section; proposals to purchase property for the development of a large area of flax; the provision of direction-finding apparatus for Carters Beach in conjunction with the new aerial control equipment that is at present being installed at the Kawatiri airport; a liberal subsidy on the cost of water supply for the Granity and Hector ■ districts; and a scheme to introduce farming machinery into this district. Hon. Mr Skinner also stated that £BO,OOO is to be spent on a Miners’ Hostel for Denniston.
