Young Girl Saves Three Children

AUCKLAND, Feb. 21

For saving three children from drowning at Takapuna beachon Saturday afternoon, Patricia Lorraine Pridham, aged 13, was to-day congratulated by the Coroner. The inquest was on Norman James Taylor, aged eight. “You are deserving of very high commendation for your presence of mind and courage,” said the Coroner, Mr S. W. Lopdell. “The incident will be reported to the proper quarters.” When four younger children playing in shallow water were swept into a deep channel, Patricia went to their aid. She swam ashore with Jacquelin Taylor and Barry Taylor and returned to save her brother, Arnold. As she took him ashore Norman Taylor disappeared. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned.
