NO PICNIC TRAIN FOR N.S.W. MINERS
SYDNEY, February 20. Because the New South Wales Government refused to provide a special train for the annual picnic of the miners of the Burwood _ colliery near Newcastle, the miners ■have now decided to transfer the r picnic day from a. Saturday, whic.r is a holiday, to a Monday, which is n working day. They sa ; d they would travel io the picnic by h’red buses. Th? Railways Department might save a few tons of coal by denying- them the tram, they said, but 3000 tons would be lost by closing the mine for the day.
