Fail of Timber Idles Waiuta line

Gold production at the Blackwater Mine, Waiuta, will not be possible for the next fortnight, due to a fall of timber about 50 feet down the south shaft in the mine. The fall extends for twelve feet, but some timber has been displaced below, and the erection of decking to undertake the repairs is. the main cause of the stoppage of production. The shaft is the main upcast ventilator shaft, and, until repairs are effected it will not be possible to do any blasting or production work in the mine. About 40 men working underground are' affected by the stoppage, and it was slated on behalf of the company operating the mine, Blackwater Mines, Ltd., yesterday, that these men will be given alternative work pending the completion of repairs. Full production, it was stated, should be resumed as soon as repair work is completed.
