Mr and Mrs R. R. Hall who have been on an extended holiday visit to Britain are expected to return today, after flying back to New Zealand.

The Rt. Rev. Monsignor J. Long, P.P., the Rev. Father J. Quinn, Ahaura, and the Rev. Brother Maurice, left yesterday to attend the funeral of the. late Rev. Father J. McMonagle at Christchurch to-day.

Mr J. W. and Master John Fairman will be passengers by this morning’s express from Brunner. They are leaving to take up residence in Wellington.

Mr H. C. McQueen, Commissioner of Apprenticeship for New Zealand, will arrive at Greymouth from Wellington to-morrow

Superintendent J. A. Dempsey after 43 years in the police force and now in charge of the Wellington district will retire at the end of next month. He will be succeeded by Superintendent D. J. O’Neill of Christchurch.

Messrs J. A. Mclnroe and B. I. Cummings, of Greymouth, left last evening lor Moturoa Island, Bay of Islands on a deep sea fishing trip. They will be joined at Wellington by Messrs T. Andrews, of Christchurch, J. McKenzie, of Tai Tapu. R. Court, of Motukarara, B. Ruffle, and u. Bugler, of Blenheim, and N. Young of Wellington.

Three British woollen manufacturers on a special mission for the British Government arrived in New Zealand last Saturday. They were Messrs G M R. Pearson. of Bradford, secretary of the Woollen Worsteds Traders' Federation, and F. C. Hirst and L. V. Driffield. The visitors will confer with government officers in Wellington.
