(Rec. 9.0) NEW YORK, Feb. 17 The spectacular Air Force “Operation Haylift” ends to-dav after feeding three hundred thousand sheep and cattle starving in the Nevada snowdrift. Since the start of the programme on Januarv 24, Air Force planes have flown 270,000 miles to drop eighteen hundred tons of bav to the stock. The planes spent sixteen hundred hours in the air. Stock-men have hailed the haylitt as the saviour of their stock saying that there was ’m other way possible of getting feed to so many animals in such a short time. Armv men with the help of the National Guard and the State Highway Department have now managed to break through most of the bad drifts jn Eastern Nevada, so that stock can now continue by truck.
