The Water Committee of the City Council was to have met this afternoon to consider periodic, complete shut-offs, but the rain reduced the loss of water yesterday to a figure that enabled the authorities to postpone their meeting until Monday, though the position will be closely watched over the week-end.

The rainfall in the city for 24 hours up to 9 a.m. was 0.40 in. and the same figure was recorded at Sullivan’s dam, one of Dunedin’s three main reservoirs. At Ross creek 0.67 in were registered and at Whare Flat, the principal catchment area, 0.53 in.
