The motor ship “Hauiti” is due here at the week-end on her first trip, prior to entering the South Westland trade. She will en route call at Greymouth. She leaves here for Wanganui. and the week after’ next goes to Jackson Bay. She then wilP bring here a cement cargo from Tarakohe. On Sunday the Aero Club is holding a demonstration here. Lake Mahinapua is becoming a popular picnicking place. The Greymouth watersiders will there hold their annual outing to-morrow, while to-day the Greymouth Income Tax office staff held a picnic at the lake. Hokitika youths at St. Bede’s College were successful in the annual swimming competitions. R. Stopforth won the senior 33 1-3 yards, the 66 2-5 yards, and the 100 yards. The backstroke, Grade 1, was won by E. Heenan. M. Kidd was second in the breaststroke. Grade 2, and P. Lowrey won the Grade 5 event.
