U.N.O. INVESTIGATION OF LABOUR CAMPS OF RUSSIA WANTED

A thorough investigation of the reported allegations of the intollerable conditions in the Russian labour camps i's to be urged by the New Zealand Federation of Labour. This was announced by the secretary of the Federation of Labour, Mr K. McL. Baxter, when reporting today the decision of the National Council of the Federation. Mr Baxter said that the Trade Union Movement of R.ussia would be asked to urge on their Government a full and free investigation by impartial representatives of the Eco 1 - nomic aril Social Council of the United Nations. • L The New Zealand Federation of Labour, said Mr Baxter, would also ask that this matter be taken up by the New Zealand Government through its representative on the Economic and 'Social Council.
