6d HOUR RISE IN STANDARD WAGE ASKED BY LABOUR FEDERATION
P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 16. Application to the Court of Arbitration for a date for the hearing of the claim for an increase of 6d an hour in the standard rates of wages is scheduled to be made to the court to-morrow morning by the New Zealand Federation of Labour. It is hoped that there will be an early hearing. The National Council of the Federation, meeting in Wellington today, endorsed the action of the National Executive in filing its claim, and thus placing itself in the position of an applicant party. Other respects of the wages issue are still under consideration.
