Replying to the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce’s representations for a rail-car service between Taneatua, and Waihi, the Minister of Railways, Mr Semple, stated that at present the department was having some difficulty in maintaining existing railcar services and it was impossible to extend their running further at this stage. Endeavours were being made to obtain further rail-cars from overseas. but no definite information was available yet when new units were likely to reach the country.
