Now Showing: ‘Silver city v" Cinecolour). “SILVER CITY.” Paramount’s saga of the old southwest, “Silver City” with an outstanding cast headed by Randolph Scott, Barbara Britton, George (Gabby) Hayes and Lon Chaney, is now showing at the Opera House Theatre. Filmed in outdoor breathtaking cinecolour, the story tei s of the arrival in town of Scott, a Texan, who has come to his uncle s freight business. He finds that the uncle, played by George Cleveland, is a scoundrel who has the town by the throat, and is determined that he shall monopolise the lucrative freighting business and to that end he will stop at nothing, including murder. Scott breaks with him .when he learns his tactics, and joins forces with Russell Hayden and Catherine Craig, in the roles of brother and sister, who have started a freight business, despite the obstacles thrown in their way by Cleveland. The latter has, among other nefarious things, planted a spy in their office, in the lovely person of Barbara Britton. The love affairs of Barbara and Hayden, Scott and Catherine, progress against a background of. violence and exciting action occasioned bv the tug-of-war between the rival freighting companies. Barbara’s eventual renunciation of Cleveland and the final showdown battle between the two factions are highspots in a picture packed with thrills. Regent Shows Now Showing; “It Happened on Fifth Avenue.” This heart-warming comedy, starring Don DeFore, Ann Harding, Charlie Ruggles, Victor Moore and Gale Storm is packed full of laughs. The story revolves around the habit of a hobo, played by Moore, who seasonally moves into boarded-up New York mansions and Virginia country homes. His life becomes tangled in a web of strange events when, through a few streaks of generosity he opens a New York mansion to a large handful of homeless ex-Gl’s and their wives and friends. When the owner of the mansion, his wife' and daughter, played respectively by Charlie Ruggles. Ann Harding and Gale Storm, are drawn into the house by a series of events, things really begin to happen. Arid romance reaches a high nitch when Gale Storm meets Don DeFore, one of the former servicemen. It is delightful entertainment and every member of the family will enjoy it immensely.
