Operatic Society’s Christmas Party
About 300 members . and their friends attended the Chrjstmas party and dance given by the Greymourh Operatic Society, a< most enjoyable evening being spent in items and dancing to Reuben Steel’s Mjsic. The President of the society, Mr J. P. Gilbert, in conveying Christmas greetings to members, thanked those who had worked so hard for the society’s season. He urged those present who were not members to join the society and thus ensure an even more successful season next year. Mr L. McGlashan, producer, also extended greetings, and thanked members of the cast for their understanding and hard work in the last production of the society. Father Christmas, attired in tradi ■ tional robes, was warmly welcomed by the gathering. A heavily laden Christmas tree in the centre of the hall, contained gifts for each oerson present, the recipient being called upon for a short performance before receiving a present. Arrangements for the evening were in the hands of the social committee of the society.
