WAIUTA NOTES

(Ours Own Correspondent). Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson, Auckland, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. Larcombe.

Mr. G. Ward has left on a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs. D. Jordan, Invercargill, has been visiting Mrs. P. Connors. On Saturday evening last the Waiuta Rugby Football Club wound up their activities for the season by tendering their friends and supporters a free social and dance. The evening was most enjoyable and was appreciated by the local football fans. During the supper interval, Mr. P. J. Darby, the President of the Club, thanked those present for their support throughout the year. Messrs J. T. Nailer and R. Breslin, Secretary and Captain, also spoke and endorsed the President’s remarks. The music was supplied by Mesdames B. Robertson, H. Ord, G. Devescovi and Mr. E. Brown. Mr. L. Page was an efficient M.C.

The late Mr. P. Kearins whose death occurred recently at the Reefton Hospital, had worked for a number of years in Waiuta. The deceased, who was a native of Greymouth, and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. Kearins of South Beach, was about 51 years of age. The funeral which took place at Reefton, was attended by many of his workmates. Mrs. E. Dobbin has left on an extended holiday to Christchurch. Mrs. A. Stephefls is visiting her daughter, Mrs. R .Thomas. Dunollie. Messrs R. Breslin, K. McKane, J. Harvey, J. McMahon and J. Robertson have left for the Cup meeting in Christchurch.
