Early Morning Fire on Farm

ASHBURTON, Oct. 29

Breaking out from a cause unknown fire caused substantial damage on the farm of Mr J. J. Goodfellow, at Lagmhor, six miles from Ashburton early this morning. Three outbuildings containing, among other things ,a motoi 1 car, were completely destroyed. The first intimation of the blaze came about 3.30 a.m., when Mrs Goodfelloy, who was sleeping in the homestead about two chains away, was awakened by an explosion of cartridges. The flames then had a strong hold and though neighbours quickly came to lend aid the buildings, with the contents, were completely destroyed.
