SOUTH AFRICA TREBLES HER DEFENCE FORCES
(Reuter —N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 9.30) CAPETOWN, Oct. 27 South Africa’s local defence associations are to be increased from twenty-five thousand to eighty thousand members according to an announcement by the Defence Minister, Mr F. C. Erasmus. Men between 17 and 25 should receive intensive military training he added. He was appointed to a committee to investigate what industries could help to supply military equipment, and, how they could speedily be converted to this end.
