Soviet Bloc Warned Communism Will Be Resisted World Wide
PARIS', October 26. Mr John Foster Dulles (United States) at the United Nations Political i Committee to-day, said that international Communism was working for I world revolution through “force, coercion and terrorism”. The ques-, tion of Greece now before the General Assembly, and the Berlin deadlock before the Security Council, were both nart of a general effort to extend tne power of Soviet Communism throughout the world. Mr Dulles moved that the committee send the United Nations Special Committee on the Balkans back to work for another year, investigating the Greek civil war, and appealing to Greece’s northern neighbours to cease aiding the efforts to overthrow the Greek Government. This resolution was presented m the names of Britain, China, France and the United States. He said that the same pattern of Communist effort throughout the world would be mirrored when the Assembly took up the Korean question. “Wherever one looks, whether it be in Europe, Africa, Asia or the Americas, there is apparent the same pattern of effort—incitement from without, coercion, fear and violence within the achieve international polical objectives”, said Mr Dulles. “The Soviet people have been told that they will not be safe until the non-Com-munist nations have been so reduced in strength and numbers that Communist influence is dominant through-
out the world, and that this result cannot be achieved by peaceful reform, but only by the method of revolution”. t . Mr Dulles said the United Nations found it impossible as yet to relieve the peoples of the world from the heavy burden of armament and the even heavier burder of fear. The means at the United Nations disposal to deal with the situation were inadequate. . “Action is the primary responsibility of the Security Council and. in the Security Council, Russia wields the power of the veto”, he said. “That is why the Balkan affair is. before the Assembly The Soviet by its veto last year made the Security Council impotent to deal with it”. Mr Dulles warned the Soviet bloc that- “if there is continued violation lof the Charter, world opinion will grow steadily more condemnatory, more resolute, and more potent to restrain aggression”. ____
