His Honour ordered Harrison to pay the fine in £5 monthly instalments.

ASBESTOS SUITS FAIL TO PREVENT BURNS AUCKLAND, August 13 Three members of the fire crew at the Hobsonville Air Force Station, who yesterday afternoon wore asbestos suits and stood in a tray of burning material, are to-day in the Auckland Hospital, suffering from burns. They are: —Norman Owen Marsh, aged 21, suffering burns; Francis Warren Cheyne, aged 20, burns and shocks; Murray Flynn, burns and shock- The condition of Marsh is fair and of the other two satisfactory. The men underwent a test to accustom themselves to entering flames in fire-proof suits. After the flames were extinguished, they were found to have suffered steam burns. It is believed the suits may have been damp. An inquiry will be held.
