BOXING WEST COASTERS AT ASHBURTON
The West Coast boxing team which has participated in most of the major boxing tournaments in the South Island this season, maintained winning form at Ashburton this week, when three of the four members won their bouts. x . , , One of the hardest fights was a lightweight bout in which B. Bdei (Greymouth, 9st. 81b.) beat L. Pi’ ue (Waimate, 10st.)> on points. Edei and his opponent were awarded a special trophy for the best bout or the evening. . . M .Tuck (Greymouth, lOst. 111 b.) easily defeated M. Gardiner (Oamaru, list.) on points. R. Wlison (Greymouth, 12st. 51b.) was beaten on points by W. Tonks (list. 71b.) Clever boxing was provided by R. Sadler (Waimate, 9st. 81b.) and V. Tuck /Greymouth, 9st. 81b.). Tuck gained a narrow decision and a trophy, after winning each round.
