Split in Auckland Woollen Union

AUCKLAND, May 8 The present officers of the Auckland Woollen Workers’ Union intend to function as an excutive "without fear or favour,” while they continue to hold the confidence of the membership, said the acting-secretary, Mr A. Lees, to-day. The meeting of the union called for Thursday nignt by a petition of 11 members wa* declared to be out of order, but the petitioners held an impromptu meeting and elected a chairman and three trustees.

Mr Lees said to-day that charges that, the executive was Communistcontrolled and its business not constitutionally conducted would be found to be baseless. An opportunity to prove the allegations would be given to these members at the annual meeting or any other meeting of the union.
